Centric believes in the power of open and trusting relationships to drive better outcomes for ethnic, underserved and underrepresented communities.
Racial inequality within Black, Brown and underserved communities has been centuries in the making. It is a showstopper when it comes to any form of equitable research and delivering service provisions. Addressing it requires a radical change in our approach to research. We are that radical change. We lead the way in disruptive research.
More nuanced – we are from the community, so we bring clarity and understanding to the questions we ask and how we interpret what we hear.
Better insights – the community trusts us with the truth. We have access to information and insights from community members that academic and other traditional researchers don’t.
We care – reducing distrust and making the relationships between different communities equitable isn’t an abstract concern for us, it’s our reality. For us, as the Covid crisis confirmed, it’s a matter of life and death.
Building self-esteem – institutional racism strips people of their confidence. By giving people skills, a voice and a seat at the table, we build their confidence and aspirations.
We empower – the only way to make things different is by doing something different. The Centric model is about ceding real power and control to communities because they’re the only ones who can change the entrenched inequalities.
We are a movement – we produce the highest quality and most in-depth research. But we’re not a consulting firm. We are a social movement dedicated to empowering Black and underserved Britons to take responsibility for their lives and the lives of those around them.
