Betty Efemini

Community Consultant

Betty considers herself to be a passionate community servant and leader, with the ability to motivate and inspire others to identify their potential and share their passion to serve others. Betty’s vision is for all members of the community to have the opportunity to have a voice and participate in community development and action in order to foster positive change in their lives and their communities.

Betty is a grassroots person and social entrepreneur who has been running a local creative craft and wellbeing community project in Walworth since 2013, which engages adults, young people and children in learning a wide range of creative and artistic crafts. The project connects with other organisations and gives volunteers the opportunity to participate in the project while encouraging local craftspeople to use their skills to serve and train others. Betty has also had the opportunity to be involved in various international community development projects and missions in Africa and Jamaica, setting up grassroots projects that engage and develop local people in farming, business empowerment, creative craft, enterprise training and social activities, including Breakfast Club.

Betty is a Fellow of the School of Social Entrepreneurs and a mentor. She holds a BA (Hons.) in Business and Marketing and a Post Graduate Certificate in Education, with 20 years of experience teaching and training in the local Community and Adult Education.

Betty is a Qualified Health Trainer with 10 years of experience working within Southwark and Lewisham delivering health improvement to the local community. Betty is a certified Self Management UK tutor and delivers various Self Management courses which enable participants to manage their long-term health conditions.
